Lemon Drop Shots Recipe

The first time I tasted a lemon drop shot I had no idea what it was. My friends and I thought they were truly delicious; we were especially impressed by the pretty color of the candy-coated rim. While we all agreed that something about the drink reminded us of lemonade, none of us really knew what exactly we were sipping on. It wasn’t until my friend asked three different bartenders to make one for her that we learned our new favorite summer drink was an actual beverage!

After asking around and doing some research, here’s the recipe for a classic lemon drop:

Lemon Drop Recipe: 1 part vodka (citrus flavored or regular) 3/4 part Triple Sec 1 part simple syrup (1 cup sugar with 1 cup water) juice from two lemons splash of cranberry juice

Preparation: Combine simple syrup and vodka in a cocktail shaker. Shake well until all the sugar has dissolved. Squeeze lemons to get 2 oz. of fresh squeezed lemon juice. Add cranberry juice, cranberries optional (This is for color.) Pour mixture into an ice filled glass with one large scoop or two small scoops of crushed ice on top. Garnish with either a lemon twist or whole lemon wedge , drop it in your drink, and enjoy!

Ingredients:

2 oz Vodka

3/4 oz Triple Sec

1 cup Sugar + 1 cup Water

juice from 2 Lemons

splash Cranberry Juice

2 oz fresh squeezed lemon juice

Directions:

Some bartenders choose to mix the ingredients in a shaker instead of shaking them with ice. Either way, be sure to mix the liquids well before serving.

To get that traditional candy-coated rim on your glass, either dip it in simple syrup or purchase white sugar for rimming (some people like salt on the rims of their drinks rather than sugar). You can also purchase shot glasses with pictures or shots of lemons already printed on them if you want an easier method!

1) Pour 2oz Vodka and 3/4oz Triple Sec into a shaker filled with ice. Shake until all substances are thoroughly combined. Strain into shot glasses.

3/4 oz triple sec

2) Squeeze 2 fresh lemons and add juice to a shaker filled with ice. Shake until all substances are thoroughly combined. Add cranberry juice (optional).

3) Pour mixture into an ice filled glass with one large scoop or two small scoops of crushed ice on top. Garnish with either a lemon twist or whole lemon wedge, drop it in your drink, and enjoy!

Tips: -This recipe makes about 6 shots. -Feel free to add any other flavors you want. Many people like to add a splash of grenadine or pineapple juice into their lemon drops. Lemon drops taste great either way!
