Oklahoma Fried Onion Burgers

Caramelized onions, perfectly cooked juicy burgers, secret ingredient burger sauce – these are the secrets of this super delicious burger that will leave you craving for more. It is so easy to prepare and will leave you craving for more.

You really don’t have to be from Oklahoma to enjoy this burger named after one of America’s finest cities. This taste of heaven burger is one of the best diner options available and trust me when I say, anyone you make this for is forever indebted to you. The bromance between the meat and the thinly sliced onions as this cooks is a big part of its deliciousness, and you can top that up with fries or corn cobs.

Yield: 4 burgers

What you need
For the hamburgers
1 lb. ground beef
1 yellow onion, thinly sliced
American cheese, sliced
½ tbsp. Vegetable oil
Hamburger buns
Salt and pepper
Cooked bacon

For the burger sauce
¼ cup mayonnaise
⅛ cup ketchup
¼ tsp. garlic powder
⅛ tsp. ground red pepper
⅛ tsp. salt
¼ tsp. yellow mustard
½ tsp. dill pickle juice
⅛ tsp. ground black pepper

How to Prepare
Step 1:
Combine all the ingredients for the secret ingredient burger sauce in a small bowl. Whisk together then set aside.

Step 2:
Pour vegetable oil in a large skillet and cook a=over medium heat. Pour sliced onions into oil and use a spatula to stir until onions are coated with oil.
Step 3:
Make four equal portions of ground beef. Each portion should be rolled into a ball, then placed on a flat surface and flattened with your hands to make a patty. Season both sides of each burger with salt and pepper, then set them on top of the onions and press down with a spatula.

Step 4:
Cook until the patties are browned on one side, then turn and cook until the other side is browned as well. Place the beef and onions on the bottom hamburger buns after removing them from the skillet.
Step 5:
Add a slice of cheese, the secret ingredient burger sauce, and a slice of bacon to each hamburger. Serve and enjoy.
